What started as a simple conversation years ago turned into a full-circle collaboration between PNWBUSHCRAFT and Nature Reliance. In this post, I share the story behind our Tripod Seat Maker Bundle, why I believe making your own gear changes how you experience the outdoors, and how traditional bushcraft skills and waxed canvas come together in one meaningful project.

This holiday season we are shining a light on the small businesses that inspire us and support the outdoor community. Day One features Nature Reliance, LT Wright Knives, and Tuff Possum Gear, three companies we admire for their craftsmanship, teaching, and heart. We are grateful for the friendships we have built and excited to share their work with you.

This post reflects on the deep sense of community that surrounded our Kickstarter to fund a fabric printing machine. While fulfilling the orders, I realized how many familiar names showed up to support us and how meaningful that is for a small family business. I share how PNWBUSHCRAFT grew from creativity, kindness and the original spark that came from Todd, and how every purchase still feels special because no one truly needs what we make. Our kickstarter reminded me that we are not building this business alone. We are building it alongside a community who believes in us, encourages us and helps us keep learning and growing.

When a fellow collector reached out about fitting vintage Coleman gear into PNWBUSHCRAFT’s waxed canvas bags, it sparked a collaboration and reminded us why community and craftsmanship go hand in hand

So to every woman who’s ever had a seed of fear planted in her—rip that sucker out of the ground, toss it over your shoulder, and step boldly into your next adventure. Failure doesn’t define you. It refines you. It’s just one path that didn’t pan out—and there’s always another fork in the road.

What makes Sanne’s approach so unique is the way she blends ancient earth skills with modern science, weaving intuition and instinct alongside evidence-based practices. The result is a way of guiding that leaves people feeling held, grounded, and nourished, and with the tools to build resilience and cultivate a lasting relationship with the natural world.

The biggest lesson? This is not just about funding. It’s about community.
Every decision I made along the way, I kept thinking: Will this excite people? Will they feel like they’re part of something fun, something wild, something a little fearless?
