One of a Kind Patchwork Mushroom Cedar Bucket Bag
Sometimes You Just Have to See What Happens
This Cedar Bucket Bag started as an experiment.
I wanted to try a new patchwork technique, so instead of working from a pattern, I started playing with scraps of colorful fabric and free formed a collection of mushrooms across the pockets.
No two mushrooms are the same. There wasn't a template telling me exactly where everything needed to go. I just cut, layered and stitched until they started coming to life.
Then, because apparently the mushrooms weren't quite wild enough, I wrapped all four outside pockets in a bright yellow vintage cotton.
The result is colorful, slightly quirky and absolutely one of a kind.
A Little Wearable Fabric Art
The mushroom designs are created from different pieces of patterned fabric, giving each mushroom its own colors, textures and personality.
They're appliquéd onto the vintage yellow cotton pockets, creating a patchwork design that wraps around the bottom of the bag.
Because these were individually free formed rather than cut from a repeating pattern, this exact bag cannot be recreated.
It's an experiment that became a finished piece of gear.
Still a Cedar Bucket Bag
Underneath all that color is the same functional design we use for our Cedar Bucket Bags.
The body is made from rugged waxed canvas and measures approximately 12" tall with a 6.25" diameter.
Four roomy exterior pockets wrap around the bottom, giving you easy access to smaller gear while the large main compartment handles everything else.
The drawstring top cinches closed with paracord to help keep your gear contained.
Use it for camp gear, EDC, art supplies, knitting or crochet projects, foraging supplies, tools, road trips, craft supplies or simply as the wonderfully weird bucket bag you grab whenever you're heading somewhere.

A lot of what we make starts with a plan.
This one started with, "I wonder if I can do this."
Those experiments are some of my favorite things to make because I don't always know what the finished piece is going to look like when I start.
This time it turned into a very bright, very mushroomy, completely one-of-a-kind Cedar Bucket Bag.
And there will never be another one exactly like it.
