In the days of mountain men and expeditions, you had to depend on your gear to keep you alive, safe and comfortable at each camp.  Each piece of gear really had to be practical to be a part of your kit.  You had to trust that your gear was well made, reliable, and multipurpose.

Those same sentiments could hold true today and our handmade PNWBUSHCRAFT ground cloth will allow you to do so many chores that are essential in camp.  You can have a dry spot to spread out your gear, an easy way to collect firewood, or that comforting spot to sit after a long rewarding day of setting up camp and these are just a few of the different uses for the hand-crafted PNWBUSHCRAFT groundcloth.

This waxed canvas ground cloth is an amazing addition to your bushcraft adventures. It is made of a 10.1 oz waxed canvas and holds up very well to wet and damp weather. We originally designed this waxed canvas ground cloth to go on the ground so you can unload your backpack and have somewhere to kneel or sit that is dry. It is perfect on the ground while getting the fire started. We also used it to roll up our wool blanket to keep it protected while it is tied to the bottom of our pack.

We love a versatile addition to our gear so we decided to improve the waxed canvas ground cloth even more, by adding a 4” hem at one end (that will fit a decent-sized log) and a 2 ½” hem on the other side. This allows it to convert into a hammock chair by using a two-point or three-point log system. It also has 4 grommet holes on each corner so you can hang it up or add handles. Then to make it even better we have added 3 sets of snaps to each side so you can use it as a big bag. You can use the waxed canvas ground cloth this way to carry wood to the campfire or anything else that needs hauling. It measures about 4 ft x 2 ½ ft and is constructed out of Martexin 10.1 oz waxed canvas in Field Tan. Its weights approx 22 oz and each seam are double stitched for maximum durability. We have included some sample pictures of the PNWBUSHCRAFT waxed canvas ground cloth in action. You will be receiving only the PNWBUSHCRAFT waxed canvas ground cloth.

The waxed canvas used on the product is made using a specialized process that was created in the 1800s. Martexin Original Wax has a superior finish that is made with an environmentally friendly blend of waxes that is non-hazardous. This fabric process creates a lifelong resistance to weather and it will develop a beautifully worn look. The 100 % cotton fabric will show scratches and become distressed but will continue to look better over time as it develops its own patina.

Here are some reviews from our satisfied customers

"Heather, Todd, and Linda do some incredible work. I just received the forager's bag and large waxed canvas ground cloth. The quality is equal to or exceeds that of Frost River and Filson, I have multiple items from each so I am speaking from experience. The ground cloth is a perfect Bushcraft item as it is multi-functional, the craftsmanship imparted into this item makes it all work. This ground cloth is built for life as well as the Foragers bag. The material used are all top shelf, no corners cut!! The quality is absolutely amazing. I know that this is my first of many purchases from PNWBushcraft. Jim Costello"

A great piece of gear!

I first saw this groundcloth used by JJ from Fuel the fires and from that moment on I knew I have to get this thing. It is super sturdy, very well sewn and from high quality. It is one of my most versatile pieces of gear and it is so useful too. I introduced it to my audience in my latest video on Youtube. All the best from Austria!

Beautiful quality crafted products

This is the second of many purchases I can see myself making from PNWBushcraft. The materials are durable and the stitching is top notch. As for turn around from order to delivery? You would think they were walking it over from next door. I also want to thank Tom From Cimbrer Bushcraft and Viking Heritage for sharing this outstanding company on his website.
