Padded Waxed Canvas Lantern Cedar Bucket Bag
We love gear that solves a problem, and this one started with a pretty simple question: Could we make our Cedar Bucket Bag a little more lantern friendly?
We took our Medium Cedar design, made it extra tall, and lined the inside walls with thick, fluffy wool salvaged from the vintage JCPenney camp blanket we've been working with in the shop.
The wool creates a soft, cushioned layer around the sides of your lantern while the rugged waxed canvas handles the outside world.
It won't make your lantern indestructible, but it gives it a much cozier place to ride.
Made With Lanterns in Mind
This extra tall Medium Cedar measures approximately 13" tall × 6.25" in diameter, giving it room for many classic camp lanterns.
The interior walls are lined with thick vintage wool to add cushioning between your lantern and the waxed canvas sides.
The bottom is not wool lined.
Because lanterns vary considerably in size and shape, please measure your lantern before ordering.

Four Outside Pockets
Lanterns always seem to come with little things that need somewhere to go.
The four exterior pockets give you space for mantles, matches, a lighter, small tools and other camp essentials you want to keep nearby.
Or ignore our suggestions entirely and fill them with whatever works for you. That's usually how our bags end up being used anyway.
Giving an Old Camp Blanket Another Job
The wool lining came from the same mid century JCPenney camp blanket we've been carefully cutting around and repurposing in the shop.
It was a thick, wonderfully fluffy old blanket with some damaged areas, but plenty of beautiful wool still worth saving.
Instead of hiding this particular wool inside something where its history didn't matter, putting it inside a lantern bag seemed especially fitting.
Old camping gear helping take care of old camping gear.
We like that.
More Than a Lantern Bag
We designed this one with lanterns in mind, but there's no reason it has to carry one.
The tall cylindrical shape and softly lined interior could also work well for other camp gear or anything you'd rather not have rattling directly against the waxed canvas walls.
Built to Age Beautifully
Waxed canvas will crease, scratch, soften and develop a patina with use. That's part of what makes it such a great outdoor material.
This isn't a bag that's supposed to stay pristine.
It's supposed to go camping.
