Sometimes we find a piece of fabric that is simply too good to leave behind.
I spotted a small stack of old quilting pieces at an antique shop, each one pieced together with the wildest mix of colors, prints and patterns. Florals, plaids, daisies, bright colors and fabrics that appear to date from the 1960s and 70s.
They were a little crazy.
So obviously, I brought them home.
This is the first piece we've created from the collection, turning one of those original quilt pieces into a completely one of a kind zipper pouch.
A Little Piece of Textile History
The exterior is made from the original patchwork quilt piece, preserving that wonderfully mismatched combination of fabrics that made us fall in love with it in the first place.
Rather than trying to tame all those colors and patterns, we let the original patchwork be the star.
Inside, we lined the pouch with our black 4 oz waxed canvas and nylon blend, adding another layer of durability and structure without taking away from the character of the vintage exterior.
No two sides are the same, and there won't be another pouch exactly like this one.

Truly One of a Kind
This isn't fabric we ordered by the yard.
This pouch started with an old quilt piece found tucked away in an antique shop. The fabrics, their placement, colors and patterns were already there waiting for us. We simply gave them a new purpose.
Once this pouch is gone, this exact combination is gone too.
I did bring home five more crazy quilt pieces from the same batch, and we'll be turning each of those into something new. Every piece is completely different, so we're going to let the fabric decide what it wants to become.
That's one of our favorite parts about creating with old materials. You never quite know where they're going to take you.
Made for People Who Like Things a Little Different
If perfectly coordinated isn't really your thing, this one might be.
It's colorful. It's mismatched. It's a little weird.
And that's exactly why we love it.
