The Long Way Home Collection – Waxed Canvas Knife Slips

There was a time when getting there was part of the adventure.

You took the train. Boarded an ocean liner. Followed Route 66 across the country. Packed a suitcase and climbed aboard an airplane when flying still felt like an event.

This collection is a little celebration of the way we traveled.

We found this wonderfully colorful fabric filled with nostalgic travel imagery and knew we had to turn it into something fun. Trains, airplanes, cruise ships, highway signs, old advertisements, maps and roadside Americana are scattered throughout the print.

We paired it with our waxed canvas and turned it into a limited collection of our handcrafted slips.

No Two Are Quite the Same

One of our favorite things about working with a large print like this is seeing what happens when we start cutting.

Each slip captures a different little piece of the journey.

One might feature an old train. Another might have an airplane, Route 66 sign, ocean liner or a collection of destinations and vintage inspired travel graphics.

The placement of the print will vary on every slip, making each one a little different from the next.

Each slip is individually cut and sewn in our small Washington State workshop. Because of the nature of the print, the slip you receive will have its own unique section of the fabric

Perfect for everyday carry and rugged enough for the woods, each sleeve will break in over time, developing a rich patina that tells your unique story. The wild cotton fabric may fade a bit with age, but the personality stays strong.
