Slate & Orange Waxed Canvas Grub Bag
Sometimes an old idea deserves another trip around the campfire.
Our Grub Bag is an older PNWBUSHCRAFT design that we brought back for Make It Monday. We asked everyone to help us decide how to make it, and the final choice was slate waxed canvas with a bright orange front pocket.
And we're glad this one came back.
The Grub Bag was originally designed as a simple way to keep your camp dishes and utensils together. Plates, bowls, cutting boards and other larger pieces tuck into the main compartment, while three long front pockets give your utensils their own place.
Everything together. Everything easy to grab. No digging around the bottom of your camp box looking for the fork you know you packed.
Built for Camp
The Grub Bag opens completely flat, giving you access to everything inside. Once you've taken your gear out, the waxed canvas can also provide a handy surface for setting down utensils, dishes and other camp items to help keep them off the ground.
When you're finished, pack everything back inside, fold the flap over and secure it with the two snaps.

You certainly don't have to use it only for dishes, either. The simple pocket design makes the Grub Bag useful for organizing tools, art supplies, camp gear or whatever else fits your adventure.
Built to Age Beautifully
We use heavy duty waxed canvas because it's meant to be used.
The scratches, creases and marks that develop along the way are part of the character of waxed canvas. Rather than looking worn out, the fabric develops a patina that tells the story of where it's been.
That's especially fun with the slate canvas, which really shows those changes as the bag gets used.
An Old PNWBUSHCRAFT Favorite Returns
This isn't a brand new design.
The Grub Bag is something we made years ago and decided to pull back out for Make It Monday. Our community helped choose the colors for its return, making this slate and orange version a fun combination of PNWBUSHCRAFT past and present.
Maybe it sticks around this time. Maybe it disappears back into the archives again. We'll see where this adventure takes it.

Each Grub Bag is cut, sewn and assembled in our small Washington State workshop. We make gear to be useful, get dirty, collect stories and head outside with you for years to come.
