Vintage 1950s Pendleton Wool Bucket Bag

From a Pair of Vintage Trousers to a New Life Outdoors.

We came across a pair of beautiful Pendleton wool trousers dating to the late 1950s, and there was no way I was going to let that wool go to waste.

Instead, I took each trouser leg and transformed it into a soft, simple bucket bag.

One leg. One bag.

Which means there are only two of these available.

Nearly 70 Years of History

The vintage Pendleton wool is soft, beautifully woven, and has already survived decades before ever arriving in our workshop.

Rather than trying to make it into something complicated, I wanted to let the original wool be the star.

The bag measures approximately 10" tall with a 5.5" diameter and closes at the top with a simple paracord cinch and cord lock.

A black waxed canvas bottom gives the soft wool a more durable base and adds a little extra protection where the bag is most likely to meet the ground.

A Handy Little Camp Companion

This is the kind of bag that doesn't need one specific job.

Use it to organize small camp gear, keep a project together, carry snacks, hold toiletries while traveling, corral things inside a larger pack, or simply keep all those little odds and ends from wandering around camp.

When it's empty, the soft wool construction allows it to pack down easily.

Giving Good Materials Another Chapter

Pieces like this are one of our favorite things to make.

These trousers were beautifully made from quality wool nearly 70 years ago. Now, instead of reaching the end of their useful life, they've been turned into something entirely new.

They've already had one story.

We can't wait to see where they go next.

Please note: Because these are made from genuine vintage material, variations and signs of the fabric's previous life are part of what make each bag unique. Only two were created, and once they're gone, this particular piece of Pendleton history is gone with them.
