One-of-a-Kind Waxed Canvas Foraging Pouch with Vintage Canoeing Patch

A little piece of outdoor history, ready for another adventure.

We took our Original PNWBUSHCRAFT Foraging Pouch and added a vintage Boy Scout Canoeing merit badge reclaimed from an old Scout sash. With brown crossed paddles against a bright blue background, the patch adds a little color and a connection to days spent learning skills outdoors.

We believe the sash dates to the 1970s, although we haven’t confirmed the exact age of this individual patch. What we do know is that it deserved another chance to get outside.

Paired with brown waxed canvas and handcrafted in our Washington State workshop, this pouch brings an old patch into a new chapter.

A Little History, Put Back to Work

Finding ways to use existing materials is part of what we love about making gear. Sometimes that means working through our waxed canvas scraps. Sometimes it means finding a vintage patch that feels right at home on something we make.

This patch once lived on a Scout sash. Now it’s stitched onto a pouch made for gathering rocks, collecting tinder, exploring the beach and bringing home whatever catches your eye.

The patch is vintage and previously used; the pouch is newly handmade.

Our Original Foraging Pouch

We designed our Foraging Pouch as a simple way to carry what you find while keeping your hands free. It folds into a small package on your belt, then opens when you need a little extra room.

Two sturdy snaps attach it to belts or straps up to 2" wide. You don’t need to remove your belt to put it on or take it off.
