We didn't just find this Halloween fabric. We made it.
This design started with a collection of wonderful 1920s Halloween decorations featuring black cats, owls, witches and pumpkins. My daughter and I photographed the original pieces, digitally turned the artwork into a repeating pattern, and then had our design printed onto fabric.
Now we're finding all sorts of fun ways to put it to work.
For this Travel Tray, we paired our custom Halloween fabric with rich chocolate waxed canvas for a combination that feels perfectly old fashioned, a little weird and very much like fall.
Built for Everyday Adventures
Snap the four corners together and you've got a generously sized tray for everyday carry, keys, pocket change, jewelry, small tools, camp gear or all those little things that need a place to land.
When you're ready to travel, simply unsnap the corners and it packs completely flat.

From 1920s Decorations to Something Useful
This is my favorite part of the whole project.
Those little Halloween characters began as decorations roughly a century ago. Instead of simply reproducing one image, we photographed several of them and created our own repeating textile design.
Look around the tray and you'll find black cats, witches, owls, pumpkins and other little pieces of Halloween history scattered throughout.
Pattern placement will vary depending on where we cut the fabric, so each tray gets its own assortment of characters.
Built to Age Beautifully
The chocolate waxed canvas will crease, scratch, soften and develop a patina as you use it.
Don't try to keep it perfect. This is a Travel Tray meant to collect stories of its own.
