Campfire Co-op: A Community Built for the Outdoor

At PNWBUSHCRAFT, we believe that the outdoors has a way of bringing people together. Around a fire, on the trail, or gathered at a booth during an event—you find the kind of connection that doesn’t need fanfare or fancy titles. Just people showing up, sharing stories, passing on skills, and supporting one another.

That’s exactly what the Campfire Co-op is all about.

We’re proud to be part of a group that includes small-batch makers, outdoor educators, authors, content creators, and heritage brands all working together to lift each other up. And lately, a few of our fellow members put into words what makes this group so special—so we thought we’d share what it means from our perspective too, as both a member and a board member of this growing community.

A Shared Fire, Many Voices

Grim Workshop recently wrote about how the Campfire Co-op feels like “a handshake across brands,” and we couldn’t agree more. We’ve found ourselves in group calls and email threads with people who genuinely want to help—not just sell. We’ve seen instructors offering to test gear, influencers offering content without strings attached, and small businesses sharing booth space or hard-earned wisdom.

This is the kind of collaboration that keeps small businesses going—especially the ones who still sew their own gear, pack their own orders, and spend more time in the woods than at a desk.

Keyport shared their experience too, talking about how the Co-op helped bridge their urban EDC tools with the outdoor community. That’s the magic of this group—there’s no one way to be “outdoorsy.” Whether you’re running a survival school or designing tools for city explorers, you’re welcome at the fire.

And this month, we’re taking that shared knowledge offline with a hands-on bushcraft class taught by Jacks Genega of Wildcard Wilderness—another incredible Co-op member. We’re excited to join Jacks in the woods and dive deep into practical skills, creative problem-solving, and a weekend of learning by doing. This kind of in-person experience is exactly what the Co-op was made for.

What It Means to Us

For us at PNWBUSHCRAFT, the Campfire Co-op isn’t just a group—it’s a reminder that we don’t have to do this alone.

Running a handmade gear company from the Pacific Northwest, we know what it means to work hard, stay scrappy, and put heart into every stitch. But having a circle of others who get it—who’ve faced the same questions, made the same mistakes, and want to share what they’ve learned—makes all the difference.

We’ve had help brainstorming product ideas, connecting with new audiences, and telling our story in ways we might not have thought of on our own. And in return, we try to offer the same. That’s the kind of community we want to build—one where there’s room for everyone, and
